Leigh West is a Senior Consultant with Asurity Advisors. She is an experienced advisory professional with five years of serving financial services clients. She has significant technical expertise, including developing advanced Excel-based tools that optimized processes, automated otherwise-time-consuming tasks, and analyzed complex data sets for various metrics.

Leigh has worked with top financial services law firms and their bank clients on high-stakes residential mortgage-backed securities litigation, including managing re-underwriting reviews, performing data quality control and intricate analyses on loan-level and aggregate findings, and identifying improvements in associated processes. In similar capacities, Leigh has worked on significant remediation efforts for loss mitigation rules under the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (“RESPA”) and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (“SCRA”). On these engagements, Leigh has managed end-to-end file review processes while developing advanced analytics to track productivity and quality metrics. Leigh regularly reported to senior internal and external stakeholders, developing audience-specific dashboards, reports, and analytics for distribution and presentation.

Leigh has previously worked on audit engagements where she has conducted policy and procedures, and transaction reviews assessing compliance with regulations such as loan officer compensation rules under RESPA, Truth in Lending Act (“TILA”), and Regulation E. Additionally, Leigh has performed a systems implementation review where she assessed loan packages in the client’s new loan origination system for adherence  to RESPA and TILA, and identified any discrepancies found between data found in the system and the disclosure that was generated.

Leigh has provided various fair lending services. Those services include data analysis of KPIs identified by the client, statistical analysis of HMDA and non-HMDA lending data, and redlining. On these engagements, Leigh has reviewed the client’s lending performance in protected classes against a control class. Additionally on redlining engagements, Leigh has created maps of the client’s lending data within their assessment areas.

Moreover, Leigh has experience conducting comparative file reviews for both consumer and commercial loans. On these engagements, she has reviewed target applications against similarly situated comparators for any potential disparate impact.

Leigh has experience working with Excel, SQL, Python, Google BigQuery, and Looker Studio.

Outside of the financial services space, Leigh has leveraged her expertise and experience working in Excel to conduct projects such as creating mortgage amortization tables and interest calculation models, production and quality control models, and macros using VBA.

During her time as a student at Howard University, Leigh created a forecasting model utilizing Python and R to better predict demand for a Fortune 500 trucking company.

Leigh holds a BS in Real Estate from New York University and an MBA from Howard University.
